Creating a Tassel account is optional. If you made one, you can delete it at any time. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and your cloud backup from our servers. This cannot be undone.

Delete in the app

1. Open Tassel and go to Settings.
2. Tap Account.
3. Tap Delete Account and confirm.

Your account and its cloud backup are deleted right away.

Delete by email

If you can't access the app, email ritixllc@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my Tassel account". Send it from, or tell us, the email address you used to sign in (for Sign in with Apple, this may be a private relay address ending in privaterelay.appleid.com). We may ask you to confirm the request before we delete the account.

What gets deleted

• Your account (email address, user ID, and first name if one was shared)
• Your cloud backup: saved colleges, lists, ratings, notes, application tracking, campus visits, rankings, comparisons, shortlists, history, and preferences

What doesn't

• Data stored on your phone stays there until you delete the Tassel app.
• Anonymous usage analytics aren't linked to your account, so they can't be tied back to you. They expire on their own (see Retention).
• Deleting your account does not cancel a Tassel Pro subscription. Cancel it in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Just want to stop backing up? Signing out keeps your data on your device and stops cloud backups without deleting your account.

This policy explains what information the iOS app Tassel - College Search ("Tassel") and this website handle, why, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it so a high-school student and their parent can both follow it.

The short version: you can use Tassel without an account. If you create one, we store your account info and a backup of your Tassel data so you can restore it on another phone. We collect anonymous usage stats that aren't linked to you. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

1. Who we are

Tassel is made by Ritix LLC ("we", "us"), a company based in the United States. You can reach us at ritixllc@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

a) Your account (optional)

You can sign in with Apple or Google. If you do, we receive from that provider:

• Your email address (with Sign in with Apple, this may be a private relay address that hides your real email)
• An internal user ID
• Your first name, if the provider shares it

If you use Tassel without an account, none of this is collected and your Tassel data stays on your device.

b) Cloud backup (only when you're signed in)

When you're signed in, Tassel backs up your in-app data to your account so you can restore it on another phone. This includes:

• Saved colleges, lists, ratings, and notes
• Application tracking: round, deadline, status, and checklist
• Planned and completed campus visits
• Personal rankings, comparison and bracket history, and curated shortlists
• Swipe and view history
• App preferences, which can include your first name, graduation year, state of residency, intended majors, unweighted GPA, SAT/ACT scores, AP/IB/dual-credit info, and college search filters (cost, size, location, school type, religious affiliation preference, and identity filters such as HBCU or HSI)

Each person can only access their own backup. The profile photo you can set in Tassel is stored only on your device and is never uploaded.

c) Anonymous usage analytics

To understand how Tassel is used and improve it, we collect anonymous usage data: which screens are viewed, how often features are used (for example, number of swipes in a session), onboarding progress, paywall views and outcomes, session length, app version, iOS version, and app settings (theme, style, and whether you're a subscriber). This uses a random identifier created when the app is installed.

This data is not linked to your account or identity. We never send your name, email, notes, searches, list names, or anything you type. We don't build personal profiles from it.

d) Purchases

Tassel Pro subscriptions are optional and purchased through Apple. To check whether you have an active subscription, our subscription provider receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase and subscription history from Apple. We never see your payment card details.

e) College data and images

College information is loaded from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard. Those requests include the search filters you choose but no account information. Campus photos are loaded from a content delivery network. Like any web request, these services may see your device's IP address.

f) Device permissions (data stays on your device)

Tassel only asks for these when you use the related feature:

• Photos: to pick a profile picture and to save a college card image to your photo library.
• Calendar: to add a campus visit or application deadline you choose to export. Tassel only adds events; it does not read your calendar.
• Notifications: to send a reminder on your device before a free trial ends.

g) Emails you send us

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to respond to you.

3. How we use it

• To provide your account and back up and restore your Tassel data
• To personalize college suggestions and filters inside the app
• To check your subscription status and unlock Tassel Pro features
• To understand, fix, and improve the app using anonymous analytics
• To respond to support and privacy requests

We do not sell or rent personal data, show third-party ads, use your data for advertising, track you across other companies' apps or websites, or share data with data brokers.

4. Service providers

We use these companies to run Tassel. Each only gets what it needs to do its job:

• Supabase - sign-in and cloud backup storage (United States)
• PostHog - anonymous usage analytics (United States)
• RevenueCat - subscription status
• Apple - Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and app distribution
• Google - Sign in with Google
• U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard (via api.data.gov) - college information
• jsDelivr - delivery of campus photos

Apple and Google also have their own privacy policies covering how they handle your sign-in and purchases.

5. When we share information

We share information only with the service providers listed above, to operate the app, or if we're required to by law (for example, a valid court order). If Ritix LLC is ever involved in a merger or sale, we would require any new owner to honor this policy or notify you before anything changes.

6. How long we keep it

• Account and backup data: kept until you delete your account or ask us to delete it. Your backup is deleted immediately when your account is deleted.
• Anonymous analytics: kept for up to 12 months.
• Support emails: kept only as long as needed to help you.

7. Deleting your account and data

In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This immediately deletes your account and its cloud backup from our servers. Data on your phone stays there until you delete the app. You can also email ritixllc@gmail.com to ask us to delete your account. Signing out keeps your data on your device and stops backups. 8. Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct data that's wrong (most of it you can edit directly in the app)
• Delete your data
• Get a copy of your data in a portable format

California residents: under the CCPA/CPRA you have the rights above, plus the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and to not be discriminated against for using your rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

EU and UK residents: you also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We process account and backup data to provide the service you asked for, and anonymous analytics based on our legitimate interest in improving the app.

To use any of these rights, email ritixllc@gmail.com from (or tell us) the email address on your account. We may need to confirm the request is from you, and we'll respond within the time required by law. We can't match anonymous analytics to you, since they aren't linked to your identity.

9. Children and teens

Tassel is made for high-school students age 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If we learn we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please email us.

If you're under 18, please use Tassel with your parent's or guardian's awareness, and share this policy with them.

10. Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. Your cloud backup is protected so that each signed-in user can only access their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect.

11. Where data is stored

Our backend and analytics providers store data in the United States. If you use Tassel from outside the U.S., your information will be processed there.

12. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here and change the effective date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we'll let you know in the app before it takes effect.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") cover your use of apps made by Ritix LLC, including Tassel - College Search, and this website. By using them, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use our services. If you're under 18, please review these Terms with a parent or guardian.

Who can use Tassel

You must be at least 13 years old to use Tassel.

Accounts

• Creating an account is optional. You can use Tassel without one.
• You can create an account by signing in with Apple or Google. Your use of those sign-in services is also subject to Apple's and Google's terms.
• You're responsible for your account and for keeping access to your Apple or Google login secure. Let us know if you think someone else has used your account.
• We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service, break these Terms, or put other users or our systems at risk.
• You can delete your account at any time in the app at Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing us. See Delete Your Account.

Subscriptions

• Tassel Pro is an optional subscription purchased through your Apple ID. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• If a free trial is offered, you'll be charged when it ends unless you cancel before then. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
• Manage or cancel your subscription in the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your Tassel account does not cancel a subscription.
• Payments and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies.

Apple's standard license

Apps downloaded from the App Store are also licensed to you under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it.

College information is not admissions advice

College data in Tassel comes mostly from the U.S. Department of Education's College Scorecard. It may be incomplete, outdated, or contain errors. Always confirm costs, deadlines, requirements, and other details directly with each college. Tassel is a tool for organizing your search. It does not provide admissions, financial aid, or professional advice, and it can't predict whether you'll be admitted. You're responsible for meeting your own application deadlines.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use our services in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of our services or to other users' data
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of our services
• Transmit any malicious code or harmful content
• Scrape, copy, or resell the app's content or data
• Use our services to infringe upon the rights of others

Your content

Notes, lists, ratings, and other information you add in Tassel belong to you. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to run the app (for example, to back it up when you're signed in).

Intellectual property

Our apps and their contents, features, and design are owned by Ritix LLC and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. College names and logos belong to their respective owners.

Disclaimer of warranties

Our services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that our services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that information in them is accurate or complete.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ritix LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any missed deadlines or admissions decisions, arising out of or related to your use of our services.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version here with an updated effective date. If you keep using our services after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
